POPULA Compressor Room Ventilation Solution for a Manufacturing Plant in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

A manufacturing plant in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, required improved ventilation for an enclosed compressor room containing several continuously operating air compressors. Heat released by the equipment accumulated near the ceiling, while the existing natural ventilation openings could not maintain a clear airflow path through the room. The proposed POPULA Compressor Room Ventilation Solution combines high-level T30(C) axial exhaust fans, filtered replacement-air openings and optional EG circulation fans. POPULA Compressor Room Ventilation Solution for Compressor Heat Removal
During peak production, warm air remained around the upper part of the compressor room and recirculated near the equipment cooling-air inlets. Operators sometimes opened the room doors to release heat, but this allowed additional dust to enter and increased the maintenance load on compressor filters and cooling surfaces. Because the outdoor climate in Riyadh can also be hot, the purpose of the system is not to cool the room below the outdoor temperature. Its main function is to remove equipment-generated heat efficiently, prevent local hot-air accumulation and provide a controlled route for replacement air.
T30(C) High-Level Exhaust and EG Airflow Guidance
T30(C) belt-driven axial fans are installed at high level on properly supported wall openings or short duct sections close to the area where hot air accumulates. According to the supplied catalogue, the standard series is suitable for conveying air at temperatures up to 50℃. The T30-6C is a reference option for a medium-sized room, providing approximately 14,000 m³/h at 2.2 kW with total pressure of 179 Pa. For a larger room, the T30-8C provides approximately 24,500 m³/h at 4.0 kW with total pressure of 221 Pa. An optional EG-5A-4 axial fan can guide air along the compressor row and reduce stagnant zones, with a catalogue airflow range of 3,238–6,198 m³/h at 0.66 kW and total pressure from 159 to 95 Pa. Final selection must account for louvers, guards, ductwork and total system resistance.

Replacement Air, Installation and Control Considerations
Filtered replacement-air openings should be positioned at a lower level on the opposite side of the room so that incoming air passes through the compressor area before warmer air is discharged at high level. Outdoor intake and exhaust positions must be separated to prevent discharged heat from returning to the room. Fan supports, protective guards, flexible connections and maintenance clearance should be included, while temperature sensors can start the exhaust fans in stages. If the actual air temperature may exceed 50℃, the standard T30(C) fan should not be selected without further confirmation and a suitable high-temperature configuration must be reviewed separately.
Expected Airflow Improvement and POPULA Project Support
The proposed arrangement is designed to create a more direct airflow path, remove accumulated upper-level heat and reduce hot-air recirculation around compressor cooling inlets. Filtered replacement air also helps avoid relying on permanently open doors. Before confirming the equipment, POPULA will review the compressor room dimensions, number of operating machines, estimated heat release, outdoor conditions, electrical supply, intake and exhaust locations and total system resistance. These details determine the required number of T30(C) fans and whether an additional EG circulation fan is necessary.
